History:

Adapted from a recipe created in circa 2012 by Tonia Guffey at Dram bar in New York City. Originally named the Triple A for amaro, Angostura and applejack, the CIA name, an acronym of Cynar In Applejack, was the idea of broadcaster and bar entrepreneur Sother Teague.

Review:

My own preference is to sip half-sized serves of CIA from a Copita cup – it's too tasty to appreciate in a gulp.
