  • 1⁄3 oz Liquore Strega

Method

Glassware:

Serve in a Nick & Nora glass

Method:

STIR with ice and strain into chilled glass.

History:

Probably named after Frank O'Hara, whose 1964 poem The Day Lady Died about the death of Billie Holiday, includes the verse, "and for Mike I just stroll into the Park Lane Liquor Store and ask for a bottle of Strega and then I go back where I came from to 6th Avenue and the tobacconist in the Ziegfeld Theatre and casually ask for a carton of Gauloises and a carton of Picayunes, and a New York Post with her face on it."

Review:

This ever so simple Martini-style cocktail is surprisingly complex and tasty with the botanicals of both the gin and Italian liqueur combining harmoniously.
